The Village Idiot...

The Village Idiot is probably one of the most diverse bars in the area where all kinds of people generally get along (for the most part.) Politicians and felons have shared conversations—sometimes the felons are the politicians!

We are really starting to grow our music and are attracting some regional and national acts including Bobby Bare, Jr. (BTW: He'll be on Austin City Limits in September.) We also get to host The Zen-Tricksters, Bump, Smokestack and Captain Soularcat. Also, The Soledad Brothers kicked of their tour at The Idiot.(Rolling Stone Magazine named them among the top ten new bands of the 90's!)

And the bar also becoming a favorite "pick-up joint" around town:

We believe, among other things, that the one thing common among great cities in the world is a great bar. A lot of the elements that our bar has are included in a book written by this guy with the last name Florida. Its a pretty cool read. If you get a chance, check it out.

"Friendly" comes to mind when I hear people describe the atmosphere here.... Live entertainment nightly, Bell's Beer, pizza, and an award-winning juke-box...what more could you want?
